sweetness.

the day has finally come: the day i've been looking forward to ever since i stepped on the plane on that cold, early january afternoon. today is that day. the day i found dr. pepper in india.

we all know soda isn't good for us--i mean shoot, i'm going to the dentist tomorrow to get some cavities filled! and in the states, i really don't drink it that often. (okay, so maybe i need to exclude the 4 years of college i spent downing a 32oz from dara's a couple times a week without batting an eyelash.) i've even come to the point where i can drink tea without sugar in it instead of my previous status quo of two generous scoops of the granulated sweetness. (yes--mom, it's really me, your daughter, saying this!)

but there's something about going to a place where i can't order it in a restaurant or pick it up at the nearest store that makes me crave dr. pepper like nobody's freakin business. why do we always want what we can't have?

and today, while i was walking around the market full of imported goods (the same place i've been half a dozen times before, always casually eagle-eyeing for that beautiful maroon can)--there it was. hidden under a shelf on the ground, in the corner. a 6 pack that made my heart flutter (and it wasn't even boulevard wheat).

so i paid the equivalent of 4 meals for my precious 6 pack, made a rationing plan (one a week for the rest of my 6 weeks here), and was on my way, grinning widely like the fool i am.

ruffin's heels beat duke for the acc title, and i found my dr. pepper. yessir, it's been a good day for the bailey clan in india!
